I am considering adding a blogging feature to the site. I though it might be interesting if people blogged about their currently running games, new products in the industry or whatever comes to mind. Would anyone be interested in participating by keeping a blog here if I started one up?

I suddenly flash to reading some angsty teenage dribble about how pathetic his or her character's life is, about how he or she wears black on the outside because they feel black on the inside, and how unwanted and goth they feel. Maybe that they should commit suicide and just put everyone else out of their misery. wah wah wah, cry cry cry, feel sorry for them crap.

Ok, back to reality. :)

But question Farcaster, doesn't this forum already do what you describe above?

Kinda. A blog is a different format than the forums and threads that we use. Think of it this way, a blog would be a collection of threads started by the same person. You could look for all the posts a particular person posted now, but you'd have to do a special search. This is a way for members to have a collection of articles/journals/posts of ideas they want to share.

For instance, I might write up a blog about my experiences with remote gaming. Every couple of weeks, I might post notes from my game and note tips and tricks I learned. It would be much easier for someone to follow the series of articles I wrote if it was organized into a blog instead of scattered through multiple threads or posts on the forums.

Does that make sense? They are definitely distinct in organization. The setup I am imagining would also give user's their own areas. Something like having your own webpage in a way.

I think it's a good idea, as it would encourage people to write more about their games, and their thoughts. For my own selfish purposes, would you be able to set it up to work off of RSS for those of us who have our own blogs? I have a blog and have a specific category for PnP Games, and instead of doing twice the work, I'd love to have a blog here just pull those entries off of my main blog via RSS.

So, where's the blog? I'm curious to see how it'll work.

The Chat function is cool, though really not had time to lurk.

I'm testing it out now before I put it on the site live.

Okay, I'm almost there. It has been a really busy month, I fear, and its only going to get busier. I've created the following sections for now:

Member Blogs: This area is open for member blogs, articles and commentary on roleplaying, gaming, industry news, or other related topics.

Campaign Logs: This section is for game masters to chronicle and share their campaigns.

Reviews: A section for posting reviews on roleplaying products.

I also plan to move the Campaign resource sections from the forums and into the new blog/article system. Any ideas for other sections?

I wasn't so sure that I'd use a blog, as about the only thing I keep up with on a regular basis is my campaign log, and I usually post it on the campaign website, but I could also post it on a blog here and link to the campaign site.

So I guess I'll be doing a campaign log, which will be roughly a once a month thing!:)

I've got a blogging feture on another site. I think I have used it exactly twice in over a year. However, the Campainge log thing might be useful. It would help others to weed out the poor gm's from the great ones. As for the review log, it should be restricted to members thoughts only. Disallow the newsbot crap since that would only be another type of addvertisement.

RSS pulls from other blogs? :)

The software that I purchased for this purpose doesn't yet have an RSS feature to pull from other locations yet.
