View Full Version : Supernatural PbC

I'm gauging interest for a Supernatural (Cortex rules) play-by-chat game via OpenRPG. Day and time will be subject to popular vote, but i suspect something in the evening since most of my usual day-players have pretty full gaming schedules already.

I plan to set up sessions like tv episodes, consisting of individual stand-alone adventures (with the occasional cliff-hanger), making attendance a little more flexible than in traditional games. I'll just need to know a couple of days in advance of each session who's going to be there so i can plan accordingly (and not accidentally slaughter the entire cast--when that day comes, i want it to have been carefully thought out!).

Reply if interested; more information to come if there's enough response.

Players will have to download OpenRPG and register with the message board linked here (http://rpgaming.prophpbb.com/) to participate.

Edit: changing this to a play-by-post game, due to scheduling conflicts

I've interest but no real knowledge or basis in the system. I'm more than willing to crack open a few rulebooks to learn but I'd leave that until I hear something in response.

I'm learning as i go myself, but it seems pretty fast and easy. Attributes, skills, etc. are purchased in dice steps. There are complications and assets to help flesh out characters, and enough info about the setting that you needn't have seen the show to understand what's going on.

I'll keep this thread updated as we settle on a day and time; so far i only have one committed player, so i definitely don't expect anyone to run out and buy the book just yet!

I'll keep my eye on this one see where it goes.

I now have two committed players, and we have decided to run it on Saturday evenings at 5pm Central time. First session will be in two days, which is early for people still considering, so feel free to contact me for server information if you'd like to lurk first.

Hey, big fan of the supernatural series (Dean would hate me for that haha) and I'd definetely be interested in getting in on this game. I got plenty of time and I'm a dedicated learner. Don't know the system and new to table top gaming in general but just tell me what I need to get and read and I'll be ready.

You need three things to play:

1. Supernatural Role Playing Game Corebook (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1931567492/ref=nosim/paperbackswap-20)
2. Download OpenRPG (http://www.rpgobjects.com/index.php?c=orpg)
3. Register at RPGaming (http://rpgaming.prophpbb.com/) and check the game forum (http://rpgaming.prophpbb.com/forum314.html) for more character creation info, to post characters, etc.

If you don't have a lot of gaming experience, this is a really good game to get some; the group is small, and we're all used to helping new players along.

Sounds great! Having some problems with openrpg, I have a mac... Although I'll be getting the new alienware m11x in 2 weeks.

I don't use a mac, but as i recall, it's a whole separate set of download instructions (might have to look around the site for it). There should also be a support forum hiding there somewhere.

There is indeed: http://www.rpgobjects.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=4

Mac install instructions: http://www.assembla.com/wiki/show/traipse/Installation

Hope that helps, although if you find you're still having difficulty, I would post something on the support forum I linked to above.

Ok, so I kinda have it working...I'm going to keep troubleshooting. Should be ready by tomorrow night.

Here's a quick tutorial (http://rpgaming.prophpbb.com/topic123.html) to help get you started.

If you would like some assistance in getting acquainted with it, let me know via PM and we can arrange something; otherwise you should be able to make your own room on a server, or join any others that aren't passworded and browse through the options.

Due to scheduling conflicts between my three current players, i'm changing this to a play-by-post game. I would still like to add new players, so please check it out with the link in the original post :)
