Welcome Back.

As for what's new, we have gotten dumped on by the snow out here. Haven't had this much snow in a long time. This is how I remember winter being from back when I was in school. However, the almost constant shoveling of the driveway has gotten old over a month and a half ago.

By the way, if you need an igloo, we are selling them. Includes delivery, but some assembly is required.

an igloo might be fun, but as of right now and for awhile now and i think even coming up it has just been so warm and sunny that it would probably melt :(

As a kid I spent my time growing up in Minnesota and South Dakota. Moving to Illinois really didn't make winter any more fun. Maybe not so much snow and the freezing temperatures didn't dip into the minus zero range very often, but the humidity of the Mississippi basin made it so miserable it was just as unpleasant as Minnesota, without the ten foot of snow.

This winter seemed to start in November and with the exception of this week is still going own. We have had a dozen snow days. That is way above normal. Granted they have been dustings with just a few inches of snow, but still snow. And the temperatures don't then race back into the 40's and 50's a few days later to melt all the snow. No, the snow has to some extent stayed around because the temperatures have not gotten above freezing for more than a few hours at a time.

I know I was born in Oklahoma and not a native of Colorado, but I miss the mild climate I have come accustomed to in the last twenty years, three inches of snow, three times a year and all traces gone in three days. With a real blizzard every six to ten years to remind you this is Colorado. The three blizzards three weekends in a row was just bad karma for me bringing my mother-in-law to live in Colorado.

Now, with the 50 degree weather we been having, I feel like the weather might be back, but I don't know. Global warming might be here to stay and I will need to get another parka.

Hey Sacha, I know about the weather in the Bay area. I lived in the Napa Valley one year. Yes, it gets cold there, but only until about ten o'clock when the sun comes out and burns off the fog. Then it gets hot. Try living in the South China Sea during the winter. Even at 50, with a stiff breeze it blows right through you. Found out how important a wind breaker was.

I lived my whole life in Colorado and I don't think I'm moving out anytime soon LOL.
It's been nice and warm here for the last few days here so I'm enjoying it while I can. :-)

Yesterday and today, there is this strange yellow orb floating in the sky here. We have NASA working on an explanation as to what it may be.

Ken, I thought that Ill was much worse although the humidity made it feel so much nippier.

Chi, Illinois weather does suck. Way worse than Colorado weather. It sucks compared to Minnesota too, except that Minnesota gets ten foot of snow and stays about that deep all winter. In Illinois they get a couple of feet of snow, then it melts and you then have frozen mud for the next several months. :( Dreadful, and the humidity... just makes tolerable weather intolerable. I will take Colorado weather anytime. Even though this winter was generally worse than normal, it still was better than anywhere else in the country, generally.

Oh ILL weather isn't that bad. You get used to the wind chill, and the cold, and the ice, and the...hmmmmmm. Okay there is a reason I don't live there any more. 23yrs was enough thank you. IN isn't as bad. and this year in OR has been unusally dry and sunny. Normaly we don't see the sun from Oct. to April. Here you just rust.

Guess I should qualify my dislike of Illinois weather. I lived at the Mississippi river and Interstate 80, opposite side from Chicago. No lake effect, but plenty of River Effect! Now, if you live in southern Illinois, it does get better. Around Saint Louis it is not quite so bad. Freezing rain is better than snow, right?

Chi, it's an old German combination. Pork and kraut on the same plate. Actually, it is very good, but then I have some German in my blood.

Okay, I got good German in me too, but that doesn't belong on a pizza. I like eating pork, but kraut...yuck.

German on my Mom's side, Irish on my Dad's. Even the Irish side would always do the pork & sauerkraut with mashed potatoes for New Year's. But I must admit, I don't think I would want it on a pizza.
