Heyas folks,
With the book's first draft nearing completion, it is time for me to post up a thread looking for players for a play test campaign of the rules. I will be using the chat feature on this forum to run the game. Due to the book being written specifically for Hero System 6th Edition that will be the game system I will be using. Please use this thread to sign up for the game. Upon acceptance I would like for you to PM me your email address so I can send you the appropriate documentation.
Current Players:
Farcaster: Bounty Hunter/Netrunner
MisterAdam: Corporate Police
Ashene: Media Star (Singer)
Sneaksta: Corporate Police/Forensics Investigator
Seifer: Bounty Hunter/Kabbalist
Campaign Overview:
The game will be done in the style of Mad Max where the PCs are operating in the Atlantic Northeast States that has marauders, brigands, and other lowlife scum controlling everything outside of the major cities. The PCs can use any of the profession templates, including the ones for magick. However, law enforcement and/or vehicle combat specialists are preferred for one fourth of the party. Characters will be all normals, so no superheroes will be allowed. One of the things that characters must consider is the owning of a vehicle being a priority with vehicle weapons not so much. The game will center around the themes of dealing with these lowlifes and restoring law and order to the areas outside of the major cities.
Requirements:
I have eight basic tenets that I would like players to adhere to because this is going to be a time consuming and enjoyable process.
1. Must be willing to participate in giving feedback and constructive criticism of the book on the play test forums that are set up on D-3 Games (http://d-3games.com/forum/). This means that you will have to sign up over on D-3 Games's forum (http://d-3games.com/forum/) and let me know your username there, so I can have Jason give you Playtester status. This will grant you access to the Playtester section of the forums.
2. Must be willing to not divulge the contents of the play test copy of the book nor give it out to anyone outside of the group. This is because every member of the play test team will be given a copy of the book to read through and find problems with the rules and/or other things wrong in the book. By agreeing to join the group you will be agreeing to following a Non-disclosure Agreement and a copy of said agreement will be emailed to you.
3. Be on time for every session with extraordinary circumstances for missing a session or two allowed with prior warning. I want players to understand that this is a commitment to improve a book currently undergoing the process of publication. This is a heavy responsibility and shouldn't be taken lightly as 4-5 other people are depending upon you to be there ready to play. On top of this I expect the sessions to be a lot of fun with character interactions. If you don't find something fun with the storyline or how I handle the game feel free to speak your mind, so I can adjust my style to your wants.
4. Be willing to learn a new rules system, but ownership of the Hero System 6th Edition Volumes not necessary. It is encouraged for players to at least try to purchase a copy of Volume 1 and Hero Designer for the creation of characters. If you would like to try out the Hero System without purchasing the book and character designer that is fine. I am willing to take the time to teach the system to players who have never played it.
5. Players that wish to sign up must have a clear character conception of the character they would like to play. Part of this is how they already know the other characters in the group to ensure proper party integration with little to no introductory story of bringing the party together for the first time. In order to accomplish this I will require a small paragraph describing the character including goals and motivations. This goes hand-in-hand with point 4 since I will be the one creating your character if you do not wish to invest the time and money in purchasing the players guide and character creation software. By knowing what type of character you want to play I can easily write up the character to your specifications.
6. Each session will start at 8 PM Central Standard Time on Saturdays and will usually last 3 hours. The game sessions can go longer than that if the players are willing to do so.
7. Must be willing to have fun and participate in a cooperative story. I work off of what you bring to the table from your character.
8. Players that are not serious nor able to commit these responsibilities need not apply. Please do not waste my time or yours if you're not willing to show up for the games on time. This is common courtesy that should be extended when you commit to something like this because this affects everyone that is committed to the game.
Those that do participate in the play test and give excellent feedback for the book will be listed in the book as playtesters. There may be additional things given to those that really give it their all in play testing and posting excellent feedback. One final thing about being a playtester is that if you do an excellent job you will be called for play testing of future books from D-3 Games.
EDIT: We switched to voice chat on 10/31/2009 to make the game go faster and smoother. The voice chat software we're using is GSC (http://getgsc.com). Upon starting the program click on the Voice tab and click on the Add tab. You will be searching for Inceptum Terminus as the name of the server. The way the server is configured only registered users to the server have voice permissions. In this case it is the members of the group that are currently involved in the playtest.
