Hence a lot of my tests are essays.

Yeah, I used to get the old "Our family name will end with you if you don't have kids" schpeel. So I would tell them, "Bummer. I guess the family name will come to an end then" (which isn't really true anyway).

Make sure the wattage of the UPS is better than your computer power supply, or the thing could hurt you. Not the "VA" number displayed so prominently on the box, but wattage.

If not, take it back, spend more money. Which is cheaper, a 150 dollar UPS or a 1000 dollar computer?

It amazes me the one guy that was spending 700 smackers on the part of his computer, but thought a 35 dollar PS would do the job. The salesman and I talked him out of it.

Thanks for the advice. The back-up power supply is 330 watts and came with a $100,000 lifetime guarantee for anything connected to it. But I haven't been able to locate the wattage of the computer, which is, from what I've been told, a fairly powerful (big and clunky) 2001 Gateway. Hope this thing covers it.

Waiting on a Friend

Watching girls go passing by
It ain't the latest thing
I'm just standing in a doorway
I'm just trying to make some sense
Out of these girls go passing by
The tales they tell of men
I'm not waiting on a lady
I'm just waiting on a friend
A smile relieves a heart that grieves
Remember what I said
I'm not waiting on a lady
I'm just waiting on a friend
I'm just waiting on a friend
Don't need a whore
I don't need no booze
Don't need a virgin priest
But I need someone I can cry to
I need someone to protect
Making love and breaking hearts
It is a game for youth
But I'm not waiting on a lady
I'm just waiting on a friend

Well, how cool is this? My 2000th post here, and it is freakin' snowing on Christmas Eve! In fact, it is coming down heavy outside. We have never had a White Chistmas in all the time I have lived in north Texas! This may be a first. Yeah, I know - not such a big deal for those of you up north, some of whom would rather not have to deal with the snow. But most of us down here think it's pretty cool. Of course, we may change our minds about it when we have to get out and drive to see our relatives tomorrow.

I lost an entire girl, never mind not getting a text :) Stupid brain forgot to ask for her info, so I'm groping in the dark.

Poor choice of words I think. fortunately, I am being far more persistant about this than normal. Maybe the pain in my cavity has motivational powers.

Valuable lesson learned. Add a point of wisdom to your character. http://www.penandpapergames.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif Now you know to always get their contact information. Oh, and she's not lost, just missing. I'm sure you'll find her again soon. Best of luck to you, Hoitash.

Something completely unrelated: I saw "It's complicated" yesterday - don't ask - and i found it to be exceptionally funny. Alec Baldwin stole the show.

Just finished writing out the entire campaign for the next session I'm "supposed" to run soon (assuming my last 2 players still show).

on a side note; texting is evil & should be avoided.

I miss white winters.

Currently, i'm trying to get the blood flowing before hanging with friends for the next two days. Also, i am a member of a Traveller group and really need to begin participating. They've been cool with my absence due to school and holidays. Doubtful they will be understanding for much longer, which is understandable.

Snow is gone. :( it was gone by noon. though now they are talking about freezing rain. We had less than 2 inches and it snarled traffic for hours. A trip that would normaly take 30mins, took 4hours. people out here can't drive in snow.
I hope it will be quiet tonight at work.

Looks like there's no business like snow business.

I blame my father for that.

True, it never really snows here, but I enjoy white winters. It doesn't feel like winter to me without snow. I was hopeing it would soon though.

I might move to Western Michigan some day, get all that lovely Lake Effect snow.

Although considering the economy and the ten-twenty year recovery estimate, I'll probably end up either where I am now or in Indiana.

Why Indiana? You really like stupid weather and corn?

No, I like having a job near my relatives and stupid weather.

But yes, I do enjoy corn.

I think my main ATI card just 100% bailed. I can't get any video on it now. It was showing the main CRT as refreshing extremely slowly. I swapped the CRT over to the older one and it's refreshing just fine and my third monitor won't come up on the card.

Time to get it exchanged I guess.

Going to be working on my SGM tool today and perhaps updating my programming 'blog :)
