A military jet can outfly a phoenix...

Heat-seaking missiles on a bird made of fire? BAM!

Not made of fire incidentally. Fireball over there. Miss. Teleport, just plain dodge. Missiles cannot maneuver with Avians. Faster is not necessarily better. Disintegrate on the jet. How is life without wings?

Hmm, sounds like it might be a good movie then. I'll have to check it out on imdb and amazon and then perhaps do a Netflix rental.

Thanks :)

Edit: 8.6 on imdb and 4 stars on Amazon (out of 92 reviews). My wife put it into our netflix queue. Thanks again.

Just finished watching Ong-Bak 2.
THAT'S an AWESOME movie....I was speechless from start to finish.
Action beyond your wildest dreams.
Makes the last release of the Forbidden Kingdom (with Li & Chan) look like martial arts romper room.
Tony Jaa is a star on the rise.....his moves have to seen to be believed.
Can't act for beans....(what martial arts star in his infancy could?)....ending is a bit strange, I think its just the Thai equivalent of a cliffhanger.
Its asian from start to finish.
Those annoyed by foreign films, subtitles or have difficulties with asian nuances will be disappointed.
Action buffs will need to bring a change of panties...this movie rocks harder than words can describe!
Final fight alone lasts the last 1/5th of the movie!

Let's see. I mounted the new mosaiced house number. It mounted pretty well and seems sturdy enough.

I took down one of the kitchen cabinets. The layout of the new place had a cabinet sticking out into the kitchen over the countertop. The problem is that it blocked the view of the keeping room and the TV when you were in the kitchen. So my wife wanted it taken down. Fortunately it was just screwed into place so it was pretty easy to take down. Unfortunately it was also screwed to one of the joists in the attic so I was up in the blown wool and fiberglass unscrewing the top. Once I got it unscrewed and down on the floor, the new layout was much much better.

I took the cabinet downstairs to get it out of the way and took a shower. Then I had an idea. The cabinet has four glass inserted doors on each side. A quick check and I found it fits perfectly in my gaming/computer room  I cut off the ceiling mount and screwed it into the studs. It's nice and solid. I mounted the doors and put in the shelves. Unfortunately I'm missing a couple of shelf pegs.

It works perfectly for my miniature collection though :D I got one shelf populated. I want to get some led light strips to mount above the minis so you can see what's there :)

Got to get some pics :)

Retail...we went and did it. My wife is the proud owner of a 17 inch HP laptop. She is departing the desktop world entirely.

I have a 1.5 Tb hard drive formatting in an external USB case right now. About 35% finished last I checked it. Alas her decision to stick with Windows on that one means I have to do the portable in NTFS (Nice Try File System) not XFS as I had planned. But poor little windows cannot read a file system not its own. Lack of a good education in my opinion. Its parents didn't raise it right.

I'm not even going into the back flips you have to do to get Windows to talk to non windows computers in a network.

Once the USB drive is formatted I'll back up everything to same. All three computers. Phoenix, Maestro, and yet to be named. Lenny doesn't need a back up, no data is maintained there, and the big drive will be its friend.

Sue's two machines upstairs are getting retired. Amanda her Linux desktop, and the HP windows box. It looks like the win box is going to her sister. I might drag Amanda in here and see if I can turn it into LAN webserver. Of course I was planning to do that with Gate....

And Thoth, the main reason for a webserver would be to start that Thindacarulle Wiki. Run it headless in the basement.

Me: I'm currently listening to G.I. Joe playing from the other room while writing another paper. Ugh, soooo tired of papers... not writing, mind you, but papers.

Beginning Tuesday, i plan to go a little nuts with my writing and write two 300(+ or -) page books a month, one being science fiction (Traveller-like) and the other Dark and gritty fantasy.

Not unlike tesral, i have a great fantasy world i have begun to build. I won't give away anything yet, but in time I'll share it with you all first... all being supported by numerous books written about said world, of course. Writing and artwork being done by yours truly. :D

Thanks Hoitash. First, i plan to write some free (to readers) fan-based novels taking place in WFRP and Traveller, all offered online. After this, I'll probably elect to publish (obviously not WFRP or Traveller based) through Lulu or something similar for the first 24 books (which is about a year of writing), then after than, submit to publishing companies. That's the general plan, anyway.

Tell me what you know about agents, Hoitash, for all i know is what i have found through internet research, so your experience with the 'process' would be appreciated.

Well one, they're overworked, but they work on commision, so the only cost to get one is the stamp and your manuscript, though a lot of them are probably using e-mail. Same goes for publishers, at least with short stories. novels maybe less so.

I haven't done much looking for agents cuz the first book I finished took ten years, ie, about half my life, so it's quality... well it sucked, so I had to rewrite it. This next one is almost done, I'm editing it. It took two years.

I have a few books on writing, fiction and sci-fi, and they have sections about agents. Gotham Writer's Guide to writing fiction is my favorite-I keep it in my desk drawer here at the dorm.

There's a book, its called Writer's Market. IIRC it has agents, magazines, and book publishers organized by genre and whether they take unsolicited submissions-the ones you just mail to there editors- or not. There are others in that vein too. Check the library, they're a reference book, so they're big, heavy, and expensive.
Sorry, that was a bit chatty.

The first thing you have to do is ditch the idea of dignity. Once you do that you are free from many of slings and arrows society might toss. If it is possible get to the point that you can only be nude, not naked. Naked = helpless. Nude = no clothing.

Modesty might have uses, but some of them are negative. Learn to do without it and you remove the negative applications while retaining the positive ones.

More of a cultural thing, than a genetic memory, 'specially when you look at other cultures' views towards clothing (it's not universal which parts should be covered and which are allowed to be in full view). I want to say it's correlated with cultural attitudes towards sex, but I don't have anywhere near the credentials to do so (or the motivation to find such studies :P).

That may be true, But some of us should not be naked or nude. At least not out in public.

For reasons of public mercy.

Yeah, but the fact that the sight of naked female breasts makes heterosexual males throughout the course of history and across the entire globe sexually aroused is neither a cultural thing nor a religious thing. It is a biological and psychological thing. Thoth is essentially correct. Don't kid yourself.

Dude the tits win every time. They have breasts, we must obey.

I think that's a great movie and have it on DVD. That's funny but the best line was:

"You make me want to be a better man."

Still a great line.

Hey Carl,

At this point I'd be ecstatic if I was important enough on their radar to count as "mind game worthy."

Beyond their standard mind games, the ones they do unintentionally, cuz they think in slightly different ways than we men do.

Foot averted :)

You probably fall under the "nice guy" category. They are the last to be picked. And most mind games aren't unintentional. learn to call women on their BS. It helps in the long run.

Just finished upgrading our forum software. Took 15 minutes. 12 minutes to make sure everything was backed up before the upgrade and 3 minutes to install and test everything.

Better 12 minutes to get good additional backups (I do a full nightly backup anyway) than losing it all (or at least all day's data).

Back to preparing for tomorrow.

Michigan doesn't have wolverines, except in Ann Arbor.

Well sitting here doing the morning ticky tack. This afternoon we have a...Concert. Sorry Thoth, not a game. Sue and I will head down to Orchestra Hall and the DSO for the Messiah. I have 3 or 4 people coming from Denver in addition to the 3 local folks. One comes by bus so he'd make it. Two come from just down the road so they'd be able to make it. But the rest have a bunch more snow.

So if the group were local it wouldn't be a big deal. If the game was on Saturday, folks could just stay over night so no big deal.

And really, it's just a game. I'd rather blow it off and come back in two weeks than chance an accident.

One guy from Denver just called. We have about 2" here in Longmont but he has about 6" where he's at so he bailed before even seeing the cancellation.
